Calico Withall

Meet the artist
Calico Withall is a painter currently studying fine art at SUNY Plattsburgh, focusing on expressive portraiture and emotional storytelling through painting. Her work develops a narrative-based practice centered on shared human experience, exploring emotion, memory, and connection.
Inspired by her mother, also a painter, she grew up with a deep appreciation for art as a tool for reflection and self-understanding. Her paintings use bold color and intimate compositions to explore identity, emotional memory, and childhood, often blending vibrant imagery with more somber subject matter.
Her current series, Human, After All, focuses on the emotional complexity of everyday moments and the ways people relate to one another. Through both her artwork and future teaching goals, she hopes to create space for others to explore their own stories through art.
